Does anyone have one or know anything about the recorder? I think I can get one from a guy for a few hundred bucks. But I would like to know if anyone else has one.
And if so what would be a quick way to make sure it all works?
Any feedback would be appreciatedon this.

I have one

I've had an AW16G for about 2 years.

It's a great, dependable machine. Very stable and the AW16G community is very supportive.

On the downside, the pre's are not very good and the mastering libraries can not be edited, rendering them virtually worthless in my opinion.

The only way to make sure it works is to test it. Bring a few of your mics and test all the inputs/channels. Make the seller do a mixdown to the stereo track and make him burn a CD. If it all works, you're golden!

Cool thanks for the input. I Dont know if the guy will have that kind of time or skill. But I will check it out. I hoping he will take about 200.

Hell, if you can buy one for $200, I'd get it even if it were broken. :D

I've had one for about two years as well, and love it. The mastering presets actually can be edited. You just can't save your edits back to the mastering library (no user spaces there, only presets), but there are other ways to save them if you give it a little effort.

As Bartman says, the dijonstock forum is a great place for help (I'm JM over there).

Hey JM,

What's with the alias dude? Nevermind, I just figured it out.

So you're telling me you can pull up one of the G's mastering presets and adjust the individual parameters? Where & how do you edit them?

I was under the impression that you would have to rebuild your own quasi-mastering algoritm by "stacking" individual effects.

Hi Gary - the G forums were my first forum experience, so I just went with my initials. Pretty lame, huh?

The G's mastering presets are nothing more than EQ and dynamics presets applied to the stereo bus. You can edit them the same way you edit EQ and dynamics on any other channel - go to the edit screen and press the select button above the master stereo fader. You can't save your tweaks in the mastering library, but you can save a scene, save them together in the channel library, or save them individually in the EQ and dynamics libraries.

I did not know that

I did not know that.....Thanks for the information.

I don't mix on the G anymore, just use it to track drums.

My feeble mastering attempts are done on the PC.
