I got a good offer on buying two XTA C2 compressors for the half price of one of them.

Any experience with this unit? I'm pretty much new to compressors, so I dare to ask after having read the 101's in the Newbies stickies, will it do much difference to my sound? I am mostly focused around guitar and bass sound, but will later be more focused on drum and vocals as my most recent band members are in the starting phase of developing our demos. So, will these compressors help us? They are digital. In what way is this worse than analog equipment?

I don't know those units, but IMHO there is no substitute for test driving one with all of your gear to see if it gives you the sound you want. WARNING--when you first get a processor, EVERYTHING you do will 'need' it, and lots of it. After you have processed the sh*t out of all your sounds, you will then figure out that tasteful application comes in measured doses. :)

Thank you for your reply. Here is some info on the units: http://www.resolutionmag.com/pdfs/REVIEWS/XTAC2E2.PDF

I am not experienced with compressors. Does the fact that it is digital make it unpreferable? I got a very good price for these otherwise expensive units and so I was hoping someone can tell me whether or not they are good. What are the main pros and cons of using 2 of these instead of just one?

Can't comment on digital vs. analog compressors in general as I have only used a few of each--some good some not--in each type. RE: using two--I have read that using two in series can give you a better sustained signal on guitars than using just one. (I think I read about Billy Gibbons doing this on his guitar rig some years ago). I would audition them--If you like what they do for you and you can spare the cash, go for it.
