I'm looking at buying a Motu 896Hd, it has 8 xlr outputs on the back. The thing is I would like to have the musicians wearing headphones, lets say 4 people at once. Do they make headphones that plug into XLR jacks? or do I need an adaptor. If I need an adaptor will this affect the sound quality going into the headphones?

Those are line level outputs and not hot enough to drive headphones. You're going to need a dedicated headphone amp to run all those cans.

EDIT: XLRs are never used for headphone jacks anyway.

What you need to do is come out of the headphone jack on the front of the 896 with a 1/4" TRS cable and run that into a small headphone distribution amp. You can get them as cheap as $50 for a distrubition box with 4 headphone leads with individual volume control for each headphone.
