i've had these things 3 months and used 15 hours tops.
is it normal for them to suddenly start sounding like this?
those are L and R overheads.
did i do something wrong?
could it be dampness? my space is (i thought) pretty dry...
one started doing it and then the other within a day.

If your any where near the ocean the salt in the air may also be as bad a factor as the humidity this past spring in RI.
Not only deposit on the capsule but on the XLR contacts of the microphone, other connected gear and your microphone cables.

i'm probably as far from the ocean as i can get in RI (12-17 miles?)

i guess my main question is "are these things pretty much done?"
should i be looking at returning them or is there something i can do, like drying or contact cleaner, that would help based on the sound coming out of them?

i looked online and could not find one person with a similiar problem, not even one overall negative review, and here i am with two mics (i bought as a stereo pair) making this noise... i can't help but think i've done something wrong.

I can't hear any sound from your link.

Well fat..... do you have an other condenser mic or can you borrow one to check that maybe it's something else in your recording line.
But if they are still making noise bring them back for an other pair.

grimtraveller, i just checked the link and it worked fine for me...
alot of low popping- that's what you should be hearing.

moresound- yeah i already switched everything around and tried different condensers. i'm sure it's the mics.

such is my luck.

moisture on the capsules from humidity...

remove capsules,

place 6-8 inches beneath a 60W bulb for a few hours,

problem solved, mics are not junk.

this is what you should tell the next guy who has this problem. ;)
i am the stephen hawking of home recording.
