Writing CD in Wavelab 5.1

When I got to write cd ..the program goes through the motions and it says Cd succesfully finished ...it only takes 7 sec then it will start playing; however nothing is ever put on the disc

any suggestions?

When you select "Write CD", a box pops up with various parameters for the write.

Under "Operation", is "Test writing the whole CD" selected? If so, select "Write". Also, if I recall, Wavelab automatically selects the fastest speed your CD drive can write do. I would say that maybe half that speed will produce the highest quality write. So, select a different speed from the drop down menu under "Writing speed". Also, if you have more than one optical drive on your system, make sure you have the right one select under "Device".

I have the correct device selectedand have tried different write speeds but it doesn't work. When I click on ok the box pops up as it should and it goes through the motions but nothing is ever put on the disc

I had this problem once in wavelab and couldn't figure it out for 2 days. then I realized I was putting a blank DVD instead of a blank CD; which you can't burn audio to.

another place to look might be on whether your drives are set up as slave or master. I dont like the "auto" setting, I think you should choose a slave and/or master drive on each IDE bus and set it up that way in your bios and on the drives with their jumpers, and see if the problem doesn't resolve.

(major assumptions here) ok inside your computer there are hard disk drives and cd-rom drives. there are one or two IDE cables, and up to two drives per cable. These cables connect to the motherboard. Because there can be up to two drives per cable, the drives are either designated "master" "slave" or "auto". These designations are set by small jumpers on the drive. you simply pick which one you want to be which, but I suggest setting your boot disk to "master" on the first IDE cable. the rest of the drives don't matter but you can't have a "slave" and no "master" on one cable. if there is only one drive on a cable set that one to "master". you probably want to set up your burner as the 2nd "master", if you can. you will have to remove the drives to set the jumper pins. don't put the drives on "auto". then put everything back together, re-boot, and hit F1 or whatever key gets you into your bios. go to disk configuration and make sure the bios is reading the drive configuration that you set up. once this is good then hopefully wavelab will be working.

Do you other CD burning software installed on your computer? You might have a driver conflict that is stopping the burn. If you have other burning software installed, first, try un-installing it and see if Wavelab will burn.

You can actually burn DATA CD's with Wavelab too, so, you really don't need another app for burning.

Many thanks to the both of you...Yeah I have Nero installed,,This is a laptop from sonicalabs.I'm not sure I will be taken it apart probalby never would work again


I'm gonna unistall Nero and see what happen and I'll go from there

unistalled nero still won't write...under drvreg.exe i read that wavelab may not recognize my cd rom but it wont let me change it

oh a laptop? nevermind my last post. Does wavelab have a help line you could call? I agree with Ford Van that another program might be "taking over" the cdrom.

I have an older version of wavelab 4 Ithink maybe I will try that. Works fine in ny other laptop. Don't know if there is a number I'll look though Thanks once again
