Sadly, no, I don't own one. Actually, I have very few of the products I've designed over the years. And of those, I've had to buy most of them off ebay, Craigslist, or pawnshop finds.

Jeff "Skunk" Baxter has promised to give me one of his Delta amps, but it's been a few years now and I'm still waiting.

Well... when there is a *Harvey Gerst memorial music museum* erected.... all of those pieces will be in place for all of those new music makers of the future to look at in wonderment and say this man is a true motivated genius,Just look at all of his designs and accomplishments.

I am exposing my ignorance here, Harvey but this thing has got me intrigued. I hope you don't mind all the questions.

Can you plug any impedance cabs into the outputs safely? Would a single or dual 8 ohm cabs just knock the wattage down?

Could you use any blank 8-track tape in the delay or are those special for the purpose? *edit (I see you said standard 8 track tapes. Would they even have to be blank? Hell you could degauss Cher's Greatest Hits, yeah?)

Thanks for the info. It's a real cool piece for sure. Was it the price that kept them from gaining a foothold in the market?

Yes, any 8-track tape will work. I'd like to see the impedance down around 4 Ohms or lower.

No it wasn't the price that screwed things up - it was the partners I chose when I started the company. We had a falling out about funding and I finally just walked away from my own company. Shame, really; it was an amazing amplifier.

Well, I'm now the proud owner of my old Delta amplifier. They're closing down their studio in Minneapolis MN, and moving to Texas. I'm gonna trade them studio time to do their album in exchange for the amp.

According to the father, he opened for Rick Derringer and after hearing the Delta, Rick said he didn't wanna follow them, only playing through his Marshalls.

I've been dragging around one old metal Delta speaker logo for 36 years, so I guess it's time to build some speaker boxes for it.

You bastard! You snaked me!!!

:D

Good for you, Harvey. It's like karma or something. Don't tell Baxter and you might wind up with two. ;) Can you give us a report when you get it up and running? A sound clip would be even better...

Congrats, man.

Damn, I could have driven over and picked it up!

Enjoy it Harvey! Very cool to have it coming back to you after all this time:D

Is it the one that was on eBay? I was going to post a suggestion that we take up a collection and buy it for you. Seriously.

Good for you, Harvey!

Damn, kickass, man. That's a fascinating head, especially considering when it was made. I'd love to hear some clips, if you get the time.

Yup that's the one. In 36 years I've never seen one for sale.

Damn, that's excellent!

I'll trade ya my Epi Valve Jr for it. :)

:laughings:

Congrats Harvey. ;)

That's awesome! She's finally going to see daddy again! It'll be a tearful Springer episode, sans flying chairs.

Amazing! This is actually really exciting!
Yeah, it's very exciting for me. This is one of the rarest products I ever designed and aside from maybe getting one of Jeff Baxter's, I didn't think I'd ever see one again.

When it comes in Harvey record yourself playing a few songs and post it here.
I think everyone would enjoy that here. ;)

This is beginning to feel like a historic moment in the making...

Please keep the postings coming. A story of re-uniting!! Congrats man on your vindication!!!!

What a lovely heart warming story for a Friday morning. I too am going to request you record it for us all to enjoy.

I'm trading Jim studio recording time in exchange for the amplifier, and he's already indicated that the Delta is the amp of choice for his recording sessions.

I will post some mp3's of the session.

sweet! Will it be done using the 4x12 and 2x12 cabs? I'd love to hear some extensively dynamic playing with that setup. (better yet, I'd love to be the one playing! :D )
