Reel deep thoughts...
One of these?

I'm sure many of you have...I have just somehow missed these all together. Never even knew AT made cassette "portastudios".

Yup, I've seen one...

I almost bought one locally last year but it was in bad shape so I passed on it. I couldn't believe how massive and well built the AT-RMX64 was. If you find one in good shape it'd be a good buy but I'm not sure how the 'parts' situation is like for those old AT beasts. They sure don't make 'em like that anymore...

Yep, I used one locally in the 80's owned by a friend. It's actually right up there with the Tascam 246 in sound and workmanship. I’m not sure what kind of support there is for it, but it was a worthy machine when new. :)

Nothing screams "hifi audio" like wood side panels!;)

Yeah, it's the only cassette multitrack I ever owned. Sold it twenty years ago or so to a friend who is now in our State Senate and running for Attorney General this November (sadly, he doesn't work on music any more). The recorder section was pretty good for cassette and the mixer section was good, too. I'd still rather record to a 3M, though. :)

Cheers,

Otto
