Hey gang! I haven't been here in a long time. So surprised to see all the old posts GONE!

Well, what brought me back here is the news regarding the closing of the Quantegy factory, and the supposed demise of all analog recording tape (which supposedly includes all cassette and VHS tape). Any new updates on this? Is it finally time to forsake the trusty ol' four track cassette? Very depressing!

Oh NOW I see everything! House wasn't cleaned at all was it?

:D Yo Trago:

When Quantegy bought the company, [can't think of the old name] the tape products used to be very good. Then, Quantegy put out cassettes that were not really quality--no where near the Sony UX Pro cassettes, which are also hard to find.

Since most folks have moved to CDs and DVDs, the poor tape stuff is "slip-sliden' AWAY.

Yeah, according to Dragon, some nasty folks slipped a trojan mickey into the system--it was down for about 3/4 days.

Green Hornet  :D

There are still many active manufacturers for analog cassette and VHS tape out there.

The real concern is for the open reel market. People who need half inch, one and two inch tape for their multi track recording equipment.

Quantegy, formally called Ampex is restructuring currently, not gone yet! ;)

Stay tuned for updates.

Cheers! :)
