greets.
Is there anything I can do to reduce the tape speed instability -- flutter i guess you would call it -- on an old Tascam Porta One 4-track? I frequently record instruments such as acoustic piano where this pitch-warbling is rather noticeable and doesn't sound pretty. Perhaps the machine needs cleaning or a replacement of rubber belts, etc?
of course the porta one is about 15 years old... it may just be time to buy something newer.

Also are you useing quality tape, like TDK of maxell? The cheaper stuff sometimes binds up in cassette housing
