If I can rig up some kinda baffle or something between a singging mic and a mic for the acoustic guitar? Maybe foam, or styrofoam, placed so there is less or no bleed from 1 mic to another? I have a hard time playing a tune and singging but kinda need to sing when I'm playing. Looking to cut the bleed so I can go back and overdub the singging. I've tried pointing the mics away from each other but the Martin is so loud it gets in anyway. I've also tried to just mouth or hum the lyrics, but that doesn't help. I guess I could just pratice more. he he he he he

any thoughts?

I've heard of stranger things... I can't picture how you'd do it though - you're still gonna get some bleed unless you have Inspector Gadget arms that can strum across the room :D

...you could try just mouthing the words - usually works for me. It'd probably be easier to practice that than to tighten up enough to do both at once.

...just a thought.
 
I don't know where to find it but there is a thread on this BBS about this very subject. People talked about how they rigged up a baffle to stop the bleed. I guess it's vaguely along the lines of if you played while kneeling at the kitchen table and put the vocal mic above the table where your head is and the guitar mic under the table where the guitar is (but a contraption you can use standing up).

It won't kill all bleed, but should reduce it.

I recall that someone had mentioned adding a box of cereal for a boost in 4k reflections! :)

Actually, I love to hear about stuff like that - strange contraptions and contortions that people use to get their sound. I just searched on "baffle bleed", and no dice. Let me know if you find it.
 
Get a cardboard box with Auralex lining the inside. Cut a hole for your head and put the mic in. Insert the box over your head and you have a mini isolation booth ;)

I'm thinking of the foam thing. something that I could maybe clamp to a mic stand, that would just hang over the lower mic, kinda between the lower mic and the upper mic. Only prob so far is that I have to peek everynow and then to make sure I;m still playing the guitar. he he he he

Get one of those thingy's that Scientists use when they are working with killer chemicals or something. You know the ones with the big rubber gloves that go inside of a large steel box. Get a Big ass one and put your guitar and Mic inside of it. Then you can sing your titts off on the outside without issue.

Yeah like the one attached. THAT'S IT! My invention, don't you guys take it.

This works wonders

Put a paper cup of some sort over the mic... of course this works better on some mics than others.

I've only used this trick for isolating the snare and hats... try it though.
 
you guys are as smart as Roel. he he he he I like the cup idea. After looking around some more I think I have something elese that might work. Kinda like what c7sus said. I have a rather large homemade stereo shelf that has 3 shelves and is open front and back. Gonna try the guitar mic through the shelve area and the singing mic on top. Lot's of wood all around. Crazy. But fun. I'll let ya'll know how this works.
