I was recently searching the net for a tube preamp under $300 when i ran across this Art DPS II DI/O Preamp System. Anyone have an opinion on it. I plan to use it on my Trioton and MPC to warm up the sound.

The ART preamps are great for drum samples and some synth sounds. They can add a fatness and subtle (or not so subtle if you desire)distortion to the sounds.

That's why Korg put a vacuum tube in the new Triton Extreme that can be used as as insert effect or applied to the final output. It works ! I use a couple of ART Tube MP-OLP preamps, which are about $60 a piece. Especially useful on percussion, organ, leads, clav, electric piano, etc.

I think the DPS II makes a lot of sense for you because you own a Triton and MPC.

When i get the Art DPS II Friday I'll let you know what happens :)

Thinking of getting the Joe Meek thing too just a bill or two out of reach right now
