Would this be a bad idea?

Hi guys, I am asking this question for a friend of mine who wants to do some computer recording at home with his computer but has a small budget to spend on. He is an experienced piano player and wants to get a 88key hammered action keyboard to connect to his computer. Would it be a good idea to just get a midi controller such as the "Studiologic Fatar SL 990" that has no sounds and just match that with soundfonts to do recording? or would it be a better idea just to get a low end 88key hammered action keyboard that has sound and record through the line-in of his SBlive sound card? Can sound fonts reproduce the piano sounds as good as lower end 88key keyboard piano sounds?

Also, he has another question. Is the "Studiologic Fatar SL 990" good interms of key feel?

Thanks for your time, my friend will be looking forward to your answers. =)

I'm not sure about the "feel", but I know those boards are highly rated. I would say if he does'nt have much money that would be the way to go. There's all kinds of soft synths to run out there. Steinberg makes a good one called "The Grand" that is supposedly very good piano sounds.
