Would anyone be interested in adding a Hammond-type solo to this?

( For those interested this is not a Khompy "heavy" song. Just to help those who prefer one or the other. )

I feel I am almost finished with this, but when I heard the section at 2:00 I started to hear guitar overtones that reminded me of a hammond. Then I thought an actual hammond solo might work in there.

If anyone is interested I was hoping to have it possibly start behind the vox around the the 2:09 mark and maybe kick it up a bit at the 2:50 mark. Or just start at the 2:50 mark whatever.

I left it purposely bare and open ended from 2:50 to the 4:00 mark. I figure I will finish it up after I see what kind of response I get, but I left some room to jamkeyzzz boyee.

PLEEZE SAVE THE KITTENZ!! DO NOT MAKE ME TOUCH A KEYBOARD!! EVERY TIME KHOMPY PLAYS A KEYBOARD A KITTEN DYZ!!!!

Ok anyway folks, here's the barely dry link.

Borrow

in the end we're all fallow
but in the end what does it matter
I don't make the rules I follow
will that place me at less value
in the end we're all fallow

well what I need to know
can i count on you
i need the good in you

all my views well they're callow
in my bones there's no marrow
my heart is soulless and quite shallow
and i don't fight fierce and sabre rattle

well what i need from you
i need the good in you

Is Flat-9 around? No....ok.....I can do it for ya, Khompy! I've got no technique whatsoever but that's part of the fun right? Don't tell Flat-9!

LOL

:D

Haha, don't worry. I don't think he checks my threads.

I saw a comment from him once but I think it was the "perfunctory HRC" post. :D sorry flat, just bustin chops .. that is if you ever read this

Yeah sure Ped, if you gots the motivation. I haven't heard you do anything poorly yet.

This is a new challenge...I'll play a solo on an instrument I never soloed on and I'll work with someone who hated me for a short period of time....

The new challenge, here it is!

Everyone with a subscription on flamewars, this is your challenge :D

LOL

PM me, Khomp....we'll unite our forces on this one.

Huh?

This is waaaay off. I may have chewed you out a bit when I read something I didn't like but that came nowhere close to hate. I have a hard time summing up that kind of emotion for the web.

But anyway, uhm... yeah well that description you just left isn't exactly filling me with the utmost confidence. I hope you know what you're doing.

I know it was way off, Khomp. I also know it wasn't hate. Hate is a very strong word. I just like to exaggerate. I find that stuff funny. It doesn't mean anything ... :)

Still having trouble with my sense of humour? :)

Please look at my avatar. I'm an idiot. :D

It has definitely made me bust out quite a few times.

Just be careful where you aim that thing!!
:D

Just keep looking at the avatar, buddy, keep looking at the avatar.

Little test:

me: I hate you!

you: wha uh, wah, what the f......

OK, stop...look at the avatar.

you: aahaaaaaaaah, it was just a joke. :)

me: it was a joke, I actually like you a lot...

Get it? LOL

My wife and friends got used to it....

So, you PM me about this? Let's record this man...(don't be too hard on me, my hammond skills are hilarious :D )

Hey Khomp- I can't help ya with the Hammond..but I wanted to tell you totally dug this song man! Very refreshing all around. Both sonically and in approach. I like the chorus a lot. Some nice sounding bass too. Good tune.

That's what I thought....and again Khomp, it's something totally different from the rest you posted. You keep surprising me, actually....

And you managed to control the bass/midrange! I'm proud of you!

Is the bass panned to the right or are my ears freaking out?

SHIT, I REALLY LOVE THIS SONG! PLEASE LET ME PLAY ON IT, KHOMP! PM ME, FAST!

I had those articles by Dumond in hand why mixing. Also the aux buses HELP! man i was tired of setting the same effects like 10 times over, what a pain.

I scooped out the bottom of all my guitars which are always multi-tracked. I think since I got used to playing guitar without accompaniment I always had to much lows in there to make it sound full by itself. In this case my first reaction was "man those guits are trebly", but I hope it was a step in the right direction.

I did pan the bass to the right  is this bad? I have been putting drums to one side (still one track for drums at this point :( gimme time) and bass to the other. Is this not recommended?

I will PM you but what do you need to do the keys? You have the mp3, do we need to do a .BUN type thing?

Hey Sluice, thanks for the nice comments. It means a lot because I know what you can do. I like how you are like a big music "plow", I feel like after listening to your stuff the limitations of the last project I did just slip away. LEAD ON!

Don't listen to the parts soloed. Listen to the whole mix. You'll see it doesn't hurt to cut some lows in the guitars.

Bass panned to the right isn't a crime, just unconventional. I actually like that attitude. Just wanted to know if it was you intention...(and whether my ears were screwed or not :D )

Btw, I hear loads of potential in your vocals. It's already good, but I think you can be fabulous. It's a voice I can most certainly fall in love with (it already started ;) )

This is always a requirement in my mixes. The new one I have up has 4 Les Pauls playing in unison. Everything from 250Hz down gets the living shit cut out of it to make room for bass.

That's right, always make room for the bass. The most important instrument in music. The bass, ladies and gentlemen, the bass. :)

Actually Khomp...the bass could use some more bass in your mix btw.

As opposed to..... having more... drums? :D

Aw shit, I mean 'low end'...in holland we just use the word 'bas' (yep, that's the name for the instrument too...us dutchies are efficient people)

Well I'll be.. that is actually what I tried this time. Dang.. i wish I had known about this sooner and saved myself a dozen "mud pies"

LOL. So so true, dat. I'll see if I can add more. Personally I always like it when the speaker cone makes my computer table shake and I feel a breeze coming from the monitors. I've since learned tho that's a bit too much. I always have trouble bringing up the kick though because it's tied to the rest of the kit. I am looking into that evolution controller you set me onto. I also got fruity loops, hopefully these will help in the future.

PS. This song rocks. It's catchy, and dark :D In a weird way. What are the chanty sounding singer voicey woiceys saying?

*Me rigs the competition so he goes with Khomp* ¬_¬

Haha, thanks Canopus. That is the drunken hornpipe chant of Jackpappys Merlinder the fiercest pirate o' da Carribe!

seriously tho, just vocalization
