heres my first attempt and more than likely the only, cuz ZED stole all my ideas :)

my mix will be the standard on what not to do in case anyone is having doubts about thiers :D

BTW there is a pause in the begining due to the fact that i didn't mess with the structure to the tracks yet.

never done anything like this (this kinda music) :p

Kinda flying blind and using the force....only going by what I hear in my limited experience with whats on the radio....

Good Job BIGWZ

Nice Vox on this...

Gotta get those drums in the mix more though.

ok everyone...i'm already ready already.

i DL'ed the rar as soon as it was up, worked on it for a few solid hours, burned a test CD and listened to it in the car on the way to a new years party. so now i'm home, and ready to upload it and see what you guys think.

this is just using the original tracks and arrangement (with slight changes to the arrangement). and i did it without using any reverb at all. i gotta say i forgot how much fun it is to mix hip-hop stuff. i really like working with the layered vocal tracks and stuff, theres so much you can do with it. anyway, let me know what you guys think. i'll probably put up another version one of these days with more original stuff.

oh and it might sound a bit hyped in the high end, i'm not too sure. my ears are still a little plugged as i've been recovering from an ear infection. so theres no guarantees on this mix.

anyway, thanks bigwillz!

I missed this one... Damn Zed your on it. :D The only thing I can think of is maybe the effect. Delay? Needs to work in and out of the mix.

FS reverb on the piano is nice. The reverb over the whole mix... no so nice. I love the ending though. :)

Thanks to everyone participating. I have been contemplating doing this for a long time now.

Thanks fer dee feedback Willz... I am assuming (which I shouldn't do) that you are not listening to these w/ a sub?

I understand what your saying about the 'drums' (what drums??? there are no drums!! ;) ) I'm thinking your refering to the kick drum... But I hear what your saying, I was listening to my mix late last night with the headphones on and the kick disappeared without the sub kickin out the low low...

Thanks for the pointer, I still have some tweaks to make before I'm happy with it...

Pretty easy thus far to mix this, I have to revamp the VST's though cause somehow my PC is runnin out of juice...and I'm starting to get pops...which has never happened to me before..but I'm runnin comp on all the vox tracks individually, so I'm gunna dump that and run the comp as an FX track, hopefully that will ease up on the processor and I can do the other things that I wanna do....

Hmmm? Didn't verb the whole mix. Do you mean vox. I did some mild verb on some vox parts. Did use a bit more on the snare.

I have to re listen and tweek the whole thing anyway. I realized as I was shutting down my system last night my second monitors were running
That makes what I'm hearing bassier and warmer than is.

The end took a lot of trying things out to get it to work out ;) I'm pretty happy with it. Thanks on that.

I'll try to pin down the verb you mean.

Thanks

My mix will be done Monday or Tuesday. I'm taking it to the studio Friday I think. :o

my mix

here's mine. this was a fun tune to mix

i spent quite a while working on this buti'm pretty happy with the end results...minus my computer getting completely bogged down form all the active plugs i had going :P

Let me know what you think

Thanks

OK second shot. It's a different link so here it is.

Hope ya like. Challanging song as far as vocals go. Had to do things I've never done before so that's Coooool! That's why I do these.

thanks bigwillz. so should i turn down the delay on the vox? it does seem a little much in parts. i don't really understand the suggestion though hehe :o :o i didn't go to big-shot producer school like some people!! :p :D

i may be more of a rock type listener, but i'm not really a noob with mixing hip-hop tunes. my first recording projects were hip-hop, and i learned a lot during the process.

What I mean by work it in and out of the mix is automating the delay effect. Bring the volume up on the delay where is sounds good and turn it down where it doesn't.

what school did you go to, or still going to in Houston?
