haha i wanted to see which vocalists you guys think are the worst, that modify their voices to sound good but absolutely blow live, im going with the vocalist from hoobastank

I would definately have to say Scott Stapp (infection) from Creep... I mean Creed.

What, no one's gonna say Geddy Lee? :D

BTW I'm a Rush fan, but it took a long time to listen past Geddy's voice.

anyone who thinks bob dylan is a "terrible" singer hasn't heard nashville skyline. it doesn't sound like "bob dylan." the "bob dylan" you are all familiar with is a character created by bob dylan. the fact remains that you might not like that character's voice, but that voice is striking, unmistakable and forces you to listen to what is being said. i believe it was a calculated move. think of how many assholes with guitars were playing folk songs back then...bob dylan just had something special to say, and he needed a way to get people to listen.

Jerry Only - Misfits

that dork from korn

and defiantely Creed.

Dave Mustaine :D

Kills me. Megadeth could have been such a kick ass band if they had a real singer. Not only that, the lyrics were the dumbest thing imaginable. Don't believe me? Take a listen to "Sweating Bullets" or "Psychotron" - yeah, that's right, I said Psychotron.

I take back Geddy Lee and submit Axl Rose. I would've loved GNR if they'd had a different singer - or been an instrumental band!!!!!!!!

I agree. Axl was terrible. And he had an ego to go with that shitty voice.

Tamme Down - Faster Pussycat.

Guy couldn't sing in tune on his own stuff but then they went out and recorded Carley Simon's "Your So Vain." So horrible it's funny but not funny enough to be good.

Madonna. Even though she's butt-ass rich, and has some great tunes, her voice is awful without studio treatments.

Leslie West, I use to love it when I heard the beautifull voice of Felix Pappalardi in a classic mountian song, when I suddently turned naucius from the horrible sound this Leslie caughed up.

I agree with dylan and geddy lee...
Although, I'd like to submit cohen as the worst.
at least sometimes dylan's voice is ok.

I disagree about Dylan. His voice certainly isn't the sweetest sound in the world. Nonetheless, he has good pitch and consistent (albeit debateably good) tone.

This conversation seems to be more about which vocalist's style everyone favors least. To answer that: the guy from Dashboard Confessional

I'm easily the worst, modified or not. I only do instrumentals now that I realise it

I actually kind of like Geddy Lee......

I also kind of like Dave Mustaine.......

How about Milli Vanilli?

I heard an old ub40 song in my car the other week, and coulndnt help but make a mental note of how freekin ungodly awful that sound was. Way over compressed and buried with loads of reverb. I think if he practiced for that record at all, then then the current status of "horrible" is/was an improvment. Very sad Indeed :( .....But then again, they cant all be siniging virtuoso's..like say Britney Spears or perhaps Dave Grohl live!) :D
