You saw The early Beatles and you are 38 years old? 2005 - 38 = 1967.

NO!! I said I've TALKED to people who saw them! LA has a very big population of English people. The guy I know who was asked to play for them before Ringo is a man named Brian Potter. He's a big songwriter/producer from the 60' and 70's.

And I was born in 66. 39 next month.

Well early happy birthday. Mine is actually tomorrow.
I got to see The Beatles at Shea Stadium. The sound was horrible. All I remember was screaming, however I will never forget that experience.

Buddy Rich..............just kidding. I'd have to vote for my band's old drummer: not only can he not keep time, but he is so stiff that he almost sounds like a drum machine.

Hey! Happy Birthday to you then!! I would have loved to be able to see the Beatles. As much as I think Ringo is a mild drummer, I'm still a big Beatles fan! There is still no greater band that has had a bigger infuence on music than they did. Wow!

I have another great book around here somewhere that is a catalog of all the Beatles equipment! I'll see if I can find it and give you the name.

Hee-hee! That's funny!! No seriously, who do you think is the WORST drummer, 'cause Bonham doesn't even fit in that catagory?

Peter Criss is the worst drummer ever.

lol I think he might have been one of the most over-rated drummers ever... Winning reader's poll after reader's poll over Gadd, Peart, etc.

But how can you call him the 'worst' when he sings emotionally charged ballads like 'Beth' ?

:D

Ringo does not suck, neither does Neal Peart, i'm sure there are more good drummers being dissed but i'm not even going to read anymore of this crap!......Either this forum is filled with a bunch of travis barker wannabes or a bunch of old guys who are just jealous cause they couldn't make a career in music.......This thread sux royal ass!.....Music is about freedom of expression and its supposed to be fun...You people don't even know what a good drummer is!......There are many over rated drummers like Tommy Lee, but this is because of the pop culture and how it grabs bands by the dozen and turns them into this big money making machine!......How many rappers out there actually have talent worth mentioning?...........Someone mentioned attitude and how Lars is a dickhead, i'm not a fan of Lars at all but i think everyone here needs to check THEIR attitude!!!!

Well, I see now you are the only person in the world who's allowed an opinion. We'll all shut up now! Sorry to have offended you...We'll let you get back to YOUR multi-platinum selling albums.

And BTW, It's THEIR attitude, not THERE, but I'm just an idiot so...

I didn't call YOU an idiot or anyone else in particular.....and no i'm not on any multi-platinum albums. I just don't think people should bash accomplished musicians, especially legends like Ringo and Peart.....its one thing to prefer someone else or not like them at all, but to say they suck and bring up their names in a worst drummer thread is retarded(no offence to retarded people surfing the thread)....I've seen all the Ed Sullivan performances of The Beatles and i can tell you Ringo CAN keep a beat.

i'm going to edit the 'fukin idiot' part out of my post so people arent offended...........

This is hilarious.

Growing up I thought Peter Criss' drum solo in "God of Thunder" on the Alive II album was the baddest thing I had ever heard. Only now do I realize what a technically bad drummer he was/is. Gene disses his skills left and right.

But, man the "cat" could sing...

um...

I have seen lots of independent drummers (including myself) that suck... but of all the famous drummers:

LARS IS A F***IN @$$ WIPE!!!!! sure, soem of his early stuff was good. but as time went by, it became really, really horrible. Saint Anger was so pathetic i got the rhythm down after listening to it once...

I have to say, i HATE slipknot, but in response to a previous post, i have to admit that Joey Jordison is a great drummer. His work on the Otep CD House of Secrets is way better than his Slipknot crap.

yea...

didnt Ringo learn Tabla? in my opinion, anyone who can play tabla has great skill. I can hardly remember the first three bols...

While I admire a great tabla player, this is apples and oranges. It's like saying Louis Conte is a great set player. Someone skilled at latin percussion is a great percussionist, but not necessarily a great kit player. Same for tabla. While it requires a good knowledge of rhythm and patterns, its finger and palm technique. I don't know how far Ringo got with the tabla, but he really didn't get too far on the kit, sans steady time. (better than most amateurs)

BTW, I've never believed Ringo sucked! If he did, the Beatles would have never gotten past the first album. I do believe, though, that he is an average drummer at best! He NEVER did anything spectacular! He held his own, though.
