I was worried that all this RMG shed was going to affect me. I bought a bunch of reels last week.

Testing today shows that:
1/2" on 2 different Fostex E-16 = no shed at all. Great pack. 4 reels
2" on MCI 24-24 = no shed Great pack. 2 reels

I like this tape alot.

Whatever is going on, I can only think that a well cared for machine is the best medicine. I will continue to buy RMG until I see a problem.

Great to know but ........

I betcha tons more people are not buying or are hesitant to buy the RMGI tape, for no good reason, as the result of some of the neg publicity, offered by a tiny fraction of users outthere.

Now, I'm not saying that a small % of batches may not have been all well and good but I feel some [people] may have had issues with the recorder itself, causing the shed and attributing, erroneously, the probs to the tape.

I don't know but this kinda reminds me of several health scares during this year alone. The media usually writes it up as such but when one digs a bit deeper, it's a whole other issue, not one to be posted all over the place.

To sum up, I too feel it'd be unwise to pass tape (any tape for that matter) on a severely worn tape path and then attribute shed to the tape.

Good to hear. I still have a couple reels of brand new quantegy to work through. But it's good to know the RMGI is good.

I've just ordered some more myself. It seems to be shedding a lot less now and only at the edges so I'm assuming it was chiefly a problem with the tape guides.
