Hi Chili,
Nice work.
I feel funny about giving you my comments, because I have a couple of thoughts about the drums - and I'm no drummer. However, I listen to my son jam with his friends - or by himself - on his drum set quite often - and there are times when the groove between instruments is just right, and very pleasing. There are other times I'm in the other room, wishing he would do this or that to gel better with the feel of the jam. So, here goes:
The snare seems too predominant and constant. Maybe try mixing it with rim hits on the third beat-(Lukas does this sound that I really like, where he hits the snare and rim at the same time, so it makes a short, sort of low, click sound), and maybe bring out more toms (subtly), earlier on in the song. I think it would give it more depth, and add to the inquisitive, pensive mood of the lyrics.
So, there's a couple of suggestions to mull over, as you "rework" the drums!

I do appreciate your thoughts. Definitely will be looking that over when I get the song finished and can go back and edit the drum parts. Thanks!!! :)

Just a little, but I held it in and swallowed it back down. :D
LMAO. I'm proud of you, a weaker man would have spewed.

whatta a$$hole. Can I say that in my own thread??

Maybe one of these drummers on HR would be willing to track them for you.

Man... Loved the tune. I've been drumming for 20 years, and if you could get me a drum-minus track, I'd love to see what I could do with it.

No promises or worries - I'd just love to play along.

If you're curious, some of my drum-work can be found here. The drums on "Chosen", "No Way Out", and "Hello" are me.

Let me know. It'd be a pleasure.

Pretty cool, man. I think the vocal could be a little more prominent. Overall no real issues. I like the piano work.

This is nice. I think the drums are fine. They are back in the mix and not flashy, which I think is just right for this mix. I think it has a Neil Young "Greendale" vibe. Minus his voice of course. And instead of a guitar jam we focus on a piano jam which is wonderful. What are you using for the piano (software or keyboard) ? The vocals are great. You change up your vocals alot !!! This vocal track to me is very Buck Dharma (Blue Oyster Cult) and I thaught of the tune "Last Days Of May". On some of your other tunes you have a Ray Davies vibe to the vocals. The chord changes around 50 to 60 seconds and at 1:50 and at the end are strange, but it works. I cant get over the way you sound like Buck Dharma on this. Great tune. Im adding this to my ITunes !!

nice songwriting skills and composition...really liked the piano and vocals were cool, maybe a little thin but what the hell do I know :)

Thans for the comments and thanks for the offer. I can mixdown a drumless track fo you to work with. Mind you, this is not finished and I'm not sure where I'm taking it yet, so I might not use your contribution. BUT, I'd love to hear what you do with it.

Thanks much. I plan to retrack the vocals in the next few weeks. Right now, they're two separate takes on two separate days and they don't sound consistent.

Hey Mike, thanks much. It's my old Alesis keyboard, it has a great grand piano patch. I remember BOC, but can't remember the guys voice. I'll have to check it out. Glad you added it to your list. Best compliment ever!!!

Thanks much. Like previously stated, I'll be retracking vocals. Hopefully, I cn get the a little better. :)

thank you, and thanks again for such a great song, it really makes me feel better through some recent troubles, falling asleep with it in my head well off to bed
