I like this quite a bit. I'm listening to mix #2, and I don't hear much of anything out of place. Percussion sounds nice and tight. Guitar sounds good, vocals sound even and pronounced. Maybe darken or distance the slapback vocal thing a bit to keep it from sounding like 2 conversations going on at once. I might also like to hear a subtle ambiance on the percussion. For some reason the shaker stands out a particularly dry.

Great song man, this is a little different than the other recent stuff I've heard from you. I like it.

The only difference I can tell about the second one ("Womb Reborn"- nice) is that the slapback doesn't seem to last as long or isn't as loud at the end where it hits at the extreme left side. What else did you do to it?

Well, then; the British Explorer guy, in his pith helmet and handlebar moustache is down by the river when he hears three tribesmen arguing animatedly. Intrigued, he listens in to their conversation. First up, one of the chaps exclaims "It's Womb-b-b-b-b-b-uh!". The other two are in uproar and shout him down. A second tribesman shouts "everybody knows it's "Woooooooom-bl-bl-bl". The other two shake their heads in disbelief. The third guy shouts it's "Wom! wom! wooooooooommmmmmmm!"

The explorer guy steps up and says "I couldn't help overhearing your disagreement, but as a native English speaker, I think I can offer a solution to your debate. The correct pronunciation of "womb" is "Woom".

The three tribesmen stop bickering and look up at him with annoyance. One of them says "How do YOU know what a Hippopotamus sounds like farting underwater?"

That's funny...I liked some of John Zorn's stuff. I had a boss who was kind of a beatnik and he was a fan. Not that Zorn's was beatnik music necessarily....just that the boss had some eclectic tastes and it rubbed off...being forced to listen to it...lol.

A great Harry Nilsson vibe to my ears - quirky, interesting fun, puns & making good stuff.
Mix 2 is cool.
 
Shave off the first 2-3 seconds of silence.
That's all I got.
 
Very nice dobro. Swapping out the lip trumpet part (or the tromdobrone?) is forcing you to broaden your sonic palette, and the songs are good for it I think. I like the electric piano line that comes in at 2.15 too.

Mix two sounds great. If you were to return to the womb one more time, the only thing I'd suggest would be to dial back the treatment on the off beat response vocal a couple of notches. Because it's lower in the mix, it makes it sounds like the vocal's processed too hot - which I know isn't the case, but it makes it sound that way to me, particularly with the clean capture of everything else.

Okay, I tried it out. It didn't seem to me that the vocal sounded too hot, but dialing back the effect on the bv *did* bring it more into the mix, which I like. Thanks for the nudge, RG. :)
 
Love the vocal reverb. I got a real Roger Waters vibe a couple times. Not "sounds like", but just something that pushed my mind in that direction. I love the almost delay-ish sounding vocals that pop out on the left. Very creative and cool.

I am really enjoying this song, and the production. The mix is really interesting and the use of space is well planned and executed.

Oh, I just notice how long ago you posted this. I am really glad that you bumped this.

I love it. I wouldn't change a single, solitary thing at all.
