Ok so know I'm in this hole project of wanting to do music for a video games and as it go for the composing process things go great. As I know I'l probably never record a whole orchestra or event close, I turn to my computer to be my orchestra. As for what I'm using know, I only use midi pricipally made with guitar pro 5. It doesn't that crappy but I know that many other softwares out there could do a much better job to make my ideas sound as their best. So my question is what are these sofwares. I'm already famillair with reason and personnaly don't like very much on how the software works. Anyway thanks in advanced for your answers :) .

Everyone has thier tastes and favorite samplers, personally I use Gigastudio 3 and am very happy with it, it does orchestral sounds very well...
How much do you want to spend? Some of those libraries can get pretty ex$pen$ive!!

Yeah, there's a huge range in quality/price/easy of use as far as orchestral sounds go. You could go for the 300 megabytes Edirol Orchestral package at one end of the line, or the full new VST package of 500 gigabytes at the other end.

well then can you list the ones you know so I can have the pleasure to find the one that suits best for me.

witch software....i didnt know witches made software?

I just googled for it, and nothing came up?

(sorry, just making things difficult :D )

This library http://www.vsl.co.at/ is considered by most to be amoung the best for recreating orchestra work (there's copius amounts of articulations, legato performance etc)... there's lots more out there, a lot of people (including myself) like to mix and match from different libraries to find the sounds that suit best.
What don't you like about Reason (aside from the lesser sample quality)? It's pretty plug-and-play easy compared to Gigastudio with the VSL... are you looking for ease of use or quality potential?

I don't really hate reason, I just didn't want to get this product as only answer :)

what system are you running? if you're on a mac, check out Logic, that program is really very very powerful!!

I use Reason and MOTU Symphonic Instrument (within Ableton)
I think Symphonic Instrument and Reason are expensive though (not sure though, I got NFR Copies from MOTU, and Propellerheads)

But I thinmk the MOTU Symphonic Instrument Is an amazing plug I also got Mach 5 (NFR) which is fun to mess around with, but i don't use it as much.
