Hi all!!! I have looked through the archives for some answers and have found many. But now I have some to ask please.
I am trying to understand how to wire my board and some effects we have.
I have a board (Behringer mx3282a) and I am going to record to my computer. With the board that I got I got some cables. 1 is an 8 channel HOSA TRS 1/4 -1/4 TRS snake. On that cable I do notice an extra "stripe" about 1/3rd of the way down. Can I use this cable for my interface?
Is that the type of cable I also need to send to my effects from an Aux??????

I also was told to use an "insert" snake. I looked at one and it has 4 1/4 trs on one end and 8 trs on the other?? So lets see if maybe I can understand that some. I can plug a TRS end into an INSERT on my board, and take the corresponding 2 ends and use one as an in and one as an out on some effects???? Do I have that totally wrong?

I have a sound processor and it has 2 ins and outs or I can go mono, would I go back to using the trs cable for that???????????
ANY help with these questions would be SO GREAT as I need to get this going.
Thanks
Stacy

It is a good configuration but it's the bottom of the barrel in quality. Yes you can use it but don't expect a long life from it...

No, you have it exactly right. The one thing you left out is that inserting such a plug in the signal path will break the path and leave you with silence unless the ends are inserted as send and return into an effects unit, dynamics processor or something else of the kind.
