I've got an Epiphone Les Paul Special II that is a unique guitar...not sure if anyone has any info on this particular one, but this is what it is: it's a black body, black hardware, and the unique thing about it is that it comes with a Steinberger tremelo system that I've never seen before, and there is no information on the internet. The bridge is set into a precut cavity that is specifically designed to hold the bridge...after dismantling the bridge, I've discovered that there is only one large blue spring in the center if the bridge, and there is no access through the back of the guitar to the springs like other tremelo systems.
Now, I have 2 questions here, and one is directly related to the actual bridge and trem system, and the other is a simple wiring question:
Question 1: How do I set the bridge on this monster?
Question 2: I had a problem with the ground that was connected to the bridge, so I took the bridge apart, and found the ground wire just laying on the bottom of the cavity where the bridge would actually just sit on top of the wire...should the wire be soldered to the bridge, or should the wire just sit there? I know that this wire is the one that's the problem, because I can wiggle the wire and the hum will get louder and softer, and now I can put my finger on the exposed wire and the hum will stop.
If anyone can help me out, let me know.
Thanks.
