No, what sounds bad is a thief throwing out bullshit arguments to supposedly explain why he's stealing. And then when he realizes he has no valid argument he says "Stop preaching. Preaching sounds bad.". It doesn't sound bad, you just can't accept the truth.
How much time have you spent in the software business, sonny? Do you have any idea what it takes to develop code and get it to market? I do, I've been in the software industry longer than you've been alive. When you get out of your teens you'll eventually realize you aren't the smartest human being ever to grace the planet. But right now all you do everytime you type is prove what an idiot you are.

pirating is bad! if it wont acknowledge software or drivers then that sucks...but your not paying for it so you can't really complain... when all pieces of your computer (software and hardware) are bought legally and then they dont work....then raise hell...I'll raise it with ya! all you and i invested in the software title was the time to download it. learn from your mistakes grasshopper! if it doesnt work...try spending money to fix the problem even if it takes a while.
and as for Dave0.....how old are you dude? i think the age that someone can begin calling anyone sonny is 55.

Hey, a big thanks to those who posted useful and relevant information without descending into a silly lecture on why teenagers are ignorant and why no one should ever liberate software from a company that shakes down PC builders to include their OS pre-installed on all their machines, leaving no choice for people who don't know any better. MS has the end-user by the balls, and I don't have to stand for it. And a big round of applause to all those who dodge taxes! Go for it, fight the good fight!!!
@Dyson: There were only a few hours between my posts, and you think I abandoned the thread? So you spend your days lurking around forums? Even I'm not that antisocial.

Hey now, I'm an American taxpayer and proud of it. Freedom don't come free. I pay my dues to live in the best country on Earth.
As for Microsoft, I pay them when I use their software, regardless of their ethics. Everybody has a choice of whether or not to use their software. Not every computer company must install their operating systems. If you have an axe to grind with the ones that do choose to sell their computers pre-installed and making you pay for that OS, the solution is simple: don't buy from those companies. If you really dislike Microsoft, get involved with the Linux community and help out, either financially or by learning to program and contributing your time and effort.
I realize that there are just some times when booting into WinXP is the easier route, and it's my conscious decision to go that way. IMO Linux is not ready for primetime as a Desktop platform and user-friendly OS. It has come a long ways but it is still not ready to replace Windows as the dominant OS. It's great for power-users and power-user-wannabes (that's me), but it is not great for Average Jane and Average Joe yet. It will be, in time, though, as long as creative people keep supporting it and keep honing it for greater accessibility. Linux has come a long way. This is why I choose to support its community: in hopes that someday, hardware and software developers will hear its voice and design their products for that OS as well, or even foremost.
Until that day, though, when I use Windows, I'll pay for it, regardless of whether or not the company is a good or bad one. At least I'll be an honest person at the end of the day.

Just so happened I had the time the last few days to Lurk. I apologize if you had some thing important to take care of and had to leave this board.
I thought you had your fill of all the reply's you ended up with from your initial statement and decided to log out and walk away.
That being said i have to go lay fiberglass now but I'll be back after 7 PM this evening!!!

I just installed Linux yesterday again, after giving it a go a few months ago.
It's really cool, but Bluesboy is right; it's not ready for primetime. The day that you can run an installer to install programs, and easily navigate the file system and networking stuff is the day it takes over Windows' spot.
But not yet.
I am enjoying though. I am planning on getting the Planet CCRMA stuff installed to see how that works.

IMO one of the things that makes Linux attractive is that you are not limited to running an installer to install programs. I think sometimes that Windows has trained so many people not to think, that we expect Linux to be the same. That's not an insult to anyone, btw.
With redhat and a few others they do have installer programs. You can use RPM's which require a simple command to install a package, or you can use the GUI to install programs. Redhat 9 or Redhat Fedora (the current free version) looks more like Windows than ever before, as they have been trying to compete as an alternative cheap solution for desktops.
So I have to disagree with statements that they are not ready for primetime. Just need to convince some SW companies of that.
BTW - The Mac OS X is based on the Linux kernel developed by BSD.
