Dilemmas

I have two windows in my future studio space. I am working on a section of my basement, which is completely underground. There are two full sized windows on one wall, which are in window wells, but I still seem to be transferring a lot of sound in and out of them. How can I reduce the amount of sound but still be able to use the window if I had to? I was think about cutting a sheet of paneling or something relatively light to a size just smaller then the window opening and then gluing foam to both sides of the panel just bigger then the window size. This way it would fit tightly into the space but I could put handles on it so that it could be pulled out of the way if need be. I know this wouldn't be sound proof, but it seems like it would help. Any suggestions?

Also I have some acoustical curtains such as what's used in a church or a movie theater. I was planning on covering all of the walls with these (including in front of the windows). I was wondering if anyone had a guess as to what kind of frequencies they would absorb or not absorb? The curtains are very heavy six feet tall, which will leave about a two foot space between them and the floor (brick wall or two by fours/sheet rock behind them). They are designed so that they baffle about three inches in both directions creating a very uneven and deep surface. Also I was wondering how well they would work to create an angled wall to make a trapezoid instead of a basic rectangle shaped room? The main issues their being the two feet of space between the bottom of the drape and the floor. Would the triangle shape between the drape and wall create a bass trap? Would this cause problems or solve them?

How do you determine the angle of a wall? My room is 23 feet by 12 feet and I believe I want 12 degree angled ends. What would be the formula to figure out how many feet to come out from the wall on one end? Or if I start one end of the drape flush against the wall how many feet do I come out at the other end to great a 12 degree angle?

Lots of questions I know but if anyone can help with any of them I would greatly appreciate it.
