In Sonar 2, why can't I select the sounds that come with Windows XP as my midi out? I could have sworn I did this when I was using 98SE.

Just be happy you can't. The Microsoft GM softsynth SUCKS!!!

Just use the VSC instead. Just as easy and 1000 times better sound! :)

Yea, I know it is bad. I'm just trying to get familiar with my possibilities.
VSC, is that virtual sound canvas? Do I have that with Sonar? I don't see that option on the midi out selection. As you can see, I don't use midi much, put I want that option. I'm also deciding if I want to keep the sound card.

No, it's not a MIDI output, it's a DXi. Just open the DXi Rack and click the "star" and select VSC DXi. Look in the helpfiles for an extended version of "How to use DXi"... :)

What soundcard do you have, then?

Then I would definentaly learn how to use the DXi's. You can get latency down under 10 ms, which makes it pretty usefull for softsynths. :)
