Will Yamaha DTXpress Drumset Work as MIDI Drum Controller?

I want something to control a VSTi drum machine like LM4-MkII in Cubase and a keyboard MIDI controller isn't quite as intuitive for me as a real drum kit.

I've seen some of these sets relatively cheap used and although their boxes have MIDI I/O, there's no mention of using them in this way in the docs.

I think it will work, but I'd sure feel stupid if I bought a set and it didn't.

Can anyone help me out here?

As always, thanks for any help and advice.

of course. that's is one of their main functionalities.

as long as you see a MIDI OUT. you are safe. :)

I certainly would have thought so, but there mysteriously wasn't a single word about it in the docs, which is why I asked.

Apparently (according to someone else who responded) there are sometimes issues about the stock pad assignments, but I believe you can just switch the plugs around from the pads to suit. If not, you can do it in the software.

I have the older drumset DTS DS-9 or 10 I forget. It works for me. I do it with logic audio.
