Will This Work?

Hoping this is the right board to post my question on - if not, please re-direct me.

I've been using my Creative Live Drive Platinum and a basic £60.00 mic for recording on my PC for the last few years, but I'm looking for better quality as when recording vocals you have to turn the input up almost full and it creates an amount of hissing.
I'm not looking for anything over the top, I'm thinking of upgrading slightly but I'm not sure if it would work, here's the plan....

Figured I would get me a Tapco Link USB http://www.dv247.com/invt/32409/ and an SE2200A Mic. (I've tried one out and they sound great)

My question (or problem) is: At the moment I'm monitoring through a pair of Edirol MA-7A's that simply plug into the back of my sound card.
The Tapco link has two seperate sockets for Monitors. Will I be able to run both things combined (the Live Drive and Tapco) so that I can still have the Live Drive as my source of sound, or will it be a case of removing the Live Drive and forking out for new Monitors that each plug seperately into the Tapco? I'm on a budget so buying new Monitors isn't really an option at the moment.

What do you think? Thanks!

You'll have to go all or nothing into the Tapco. It will become your new soundcard and you will need to give up your Creative Live Platinum.

It won't affect the speakers though, as long as you're not using chincy computer speakers which you should ditch anyway.

To sum up, Tapco replaces the Creative Platinum but it won't NECESSARILY affect your speakers.

I first bought the Link.USB with an AKG D880M and it worked great! I did have one issue with the sound and windows xp, but this is what I did....

After you get the driver and the FULL version of Mackie's Tracktion 2.0 installed, tell the computer that you want to use your Creative as your main driver. THEN, when you are inside Tracktion, you will automatically be using its own driver and have to have headphones or speakers hooked up to your TAPCO. But, that was no biggie for me. I have a nice headset I use while I record my voice.

If you are using a MAC, I am sure the process is about the same, you just gotta tell your computer who's boss.

(I then bought Audition after using the demo. It works fine there too. You have to tell Audition to use the TAPCO drivers to record from and play back on, but its in Hardware options. Easy to find.)
