Will This Power My Microphone?

The behringer DI will provide phantom power to a mic, but it will also introduce noise into the signal before it hits the pre. The DI does not have a mic pre. But I have 2 of those little boxes and they are cool for DI's though,

Are you sure about that? I've never used a Behringer DI, but it would be highly unusual for a DI box to supply phantom power.

That Behringer does NOT supply phantom power. It's an actice direct box designed for instruments that can get its power from a preamp that does supply phantom power.

I've had pretty good luck with Rolls PB23, about $50 at GC/Musician's Friend. It's a dorky looking little box, but it works. I've got one badass mic with a 250 ohm line level output that needs a separate phantom power supply to go into a line level input, and the noise floor with the Rolls has been tolerable.-Richie

My bad...the Behringer DI won't provide phantom for a mic. I guess I read that wrong. I downloaded the PDF too to make sure the manuals matched, but could have sworn I read that it would supply 18v of phantom power.

Thanks for the correction Track Rat
