I've heard that you need to have XPsp2 for SATA drives to work as a BOOT drive but how about storage drive?

My Boot drive is IDE ATA100... I'm going to add 2 SATA 150 drives (RAID 1) for my Audio drive. Will I be OK w/ Sp1? Will I need to get drivers and if so from who? Seagate, my SATA drives... or MSI my Motherboard (K7N2 Delta2-lsr, it's nForce2).

How about RAID? I'm good w/ PCs and configuring, just never run a RAID setup. Will I be able to just enable RAID in my BIOS and... ?

Thanks,
B

I'm runnning SP1 because I reformatted recently. I don't have much experience with setting up my SATA's as a RAID so I don't know if I can be much help. One problem I ran into is if I left my IDE connected while I installed the OS on one of the SATA's, the OS installation was corrupt because the BIOS automatically called my IDE drive, drive C: for some reason.

My setup currently is C: Seagate Sata II 80GB (OS and Apps), F: Seagate Sata II 400GB (samples), G: Seagate Sata II 80GB (Cakewalk project and song information). I don't have any problems with SP1 or any issues really.

I don't think you'll have any trouble at all, but if you do, you might want to update the drivers for your RAID controller. I have Silicone something and nVidia RAID drivers.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, good luck!
