Ahh.. 4070G not 3070G..

I can hear different things coming out of each speaker (i/e different, separate recordings) when playing back some old (from the late 1970's) reel tapes of my Dad's band. I have played some of them before without this problem. Also, it does not happen on some new recordings of things I put on brand new Quantegy tapes.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Consumer reel to reel decks stagger the tracks in a 1-3-2-4 orientation which requires flipping the tape over to the B side to hear the other two tracks vs. multi-track decks which would have a 1-2-3-4 track layout in one pass with no flipping sides. So that might explain the situation you're experiencing.
