Hi I have question: What are the high pitched squeaks in some songs I listen to? It isn't the fingers sliding over the strings, but more of a clipping sounds like they punched in and out at that instant. For example:

4:08 in Wiggle Waggle - Word of Mouth Revisited version (new brass over jacos bass track)
2:49 in Dani California - Red Hot

If you have those tracks.
It's been bothering me for a while now. Thanks for your time.

Hey clong .... that the drugs talking man! :o

No really it's high speed backwards recordings subliminally telling you to purchase certain products, vote for certain people and to be a mush minded follower with the rest of the masses like lemmings to their deaths.

I don't know I'll try and find those songs and give it a listen but more than likely I suspect that it's a studio/recording artifact as you suggested.
If you can post those songs or a link that would be helpful.

Now I'm going back to listen to my satanic subliminal music ...for there are a few things that "it" wants me to accomplish. Then I have to take care of what my dog has been telling me for the last week! The voices ........ The voices. :D

And what if we don't have these tracks ? What if no one on this site has the tracks ? You'll need to meet us half way by uploading the sounds you mean (if it's legal) because to be honest with you, one hasn't a clue what you might mean.

I don't have those songs to listen to, but when I hear someone talking about unknown squeaks on a recording, my betting money goes to a squeaking chair or drum throne. There's a lot of those chair squeaks that make it on to recordings where the producer/engineer just lets it go as not worth dumping the take for.

Most times those little things that happen for a fraction of a second go unoticed by most.Sometimes you'll pick up on those little things as you're ears get better and you become more critical with your listening skills.

I hear string squeaks in my recordings but sometimes it's just unavoidable. When i listen to my favorite cds i pick up on string squeaks all the time now. I never noticed them before i got into recording.I just learned to listen to things differently now.

I recorded a cd at a local studio back in 97' and my other guitarist swears he could pick out when a loud car happened to drive by.To this day i've still never heard that and i've listened to that disc til my ears almost bled.

Some day i'll probably happen to pick up on it and then it'll stick out like sore thumb and i won't be able to listen to the disc without hearing it.

Are the versions of the songs your listening to MP3's? It's just mp3's have glitches in them sometimes, a bit like a high click/squeak, might be that.

I was going to say consider your self lucky that you don't hear the car for that is all you'll hear on that recording forever and ever.

The squeaky kick pedal on this one drove me crazy back when it came out. Very few people noticed it until I would point it out. It's in there, but not too prominent in the Youtube video track.
