ihave a choice between these free condenser mics, MXL990 with shockmount, or m-audio aries, im using only for rap, and im going to return my peavey pvi2, wich is best for me?

cmon im trying to order here, i thought we had sum experts here

The 990 is not generally used for vocals, and I had never heard of the Aries until now. I didn't even know M-Audio was selling mics at all. In general, suggesting a vocal mic to somebody is like suggesting a shoe size. You're going to have to a mic that complements your voice, and there is not really any good advice somebody else on the Internet can tell you about that.

If I had to guess, at least the M-Audio seems to be intended for vocals, and most of their stuff is usable for what they sell it for.

most of the "experts" probably have'nt used every cheap mic under the sun. most of the normal guys have probably only used a handful of different mics.

can't you just get one and send it back if you don't like it?

i have used the 990 and did'nt like it for vocals. harvey gearst uses it and says he gets good results. i think experience and experimentation will go further than your worries of which specific cheap mic to buy.

it was free with m-audio pre moblie, but there were 2 dif offers, i coulndnt get non feedback on the aries, so i got the mxl, i could send it back but by then the offer will expire,

i liked the 990 on my cheap acoustic guitar. you probably could of ebayed the aries for some extra cash though.

DO U THINK IT WOULD WORK GOOD FOR VOCALS? yeah i noticed that it was selling for around 130, i wasnt sure if m-audio could make a good mic, i just returned a peavey, there equipment is good but that mic wasnt, i saw mxl on ebay for around 70,they were both listed for 200 but they inflate the suggested price,

Depends on the vocalist. I have heard some very good stuff with the 990.

I have heard some good vocals recorded with the 990 also. It did'nt work for me but that does'nt mean it won't work for someone else.
