Hey thanks a lot firefly. Its actually the same track, I didn't edit it. So, it's probably how it comes across on different systems...something you mentioned as well. The bass needs some clearing up though, that's a definite.

Thank you so much for the comment on the melody. I spend more time on the hook than anything else. Riffs and chord progressions are nothing to me without a good hook on top of them, so thank you for mentioning that. Its something I put an extraordinary amount of time into so it's great to hear others find it catchy. I'd like to work somewhere in the "biz" helping others with melody or writing my own, but I'm lost on where to start. Being 33 probably doesn't help.

Well, all I can say is you are off to a good start. A well written, catchy song beats all. And your recording is good. Keep up the good work.

Holy shit, this vocal performance is incredible! It drew me in immediately and never let up. I agree that the weak link here is the bass, but to be honest, I almost didn't care. I just couldn't stop listening to the vocals; they were that compelling. Really amazing stuff. Some of the best vocals I've ever heard on this forum. My hat's off to you sir!

Great song too. Other than the bass lacking clarity, this sounds great to me.

Woah. Thanks dude. Wow that means a lot to me, seriously. Thanks.

I went with a larger bass cabinet in my sim, I think ill stick with the smaller one from now on. The big one just sounds muddy and boomy. I tried a small boost around 1kHz for pick sound, and a small cut around 500, but no good.

Thanks again man

my chain is long is complicated...there are about 8 vocals tracks altogether, all going into a Vox Bus w the following, in order: EQ, DE-ess, Comp (2:1), Verb, Comp (4:1), Delay. Then there's a signal chain on that bus from the guitar bus compressor (1.3:1), and a third vocal compressors that were used only by the background harmonies. The individual vox tracks were all different. The ones w sibilance issues are probably the ones running through amps for that slight dist effect, but of course, they run through the long bus chain i mentioned above. it's a headache.

I always have a tune somewhere in the process, ha, thanks man. it's time consuming, absolutely.

Wow - that's some signal chain! But I've got to say that your vocal really sounds good to me. Perhaps I need to investigate a signal chain like that. Did you roll off the low end of your vocals? What other EQ did you use?

There are definitely sibilance issues, like someone mentioned earlier, so I need to work on where in the chain I use the de-esser and where to set its threshold.

The EQ has HPF at about 120 and LPF at about 10k. A tiny cut at 500 and another at 1kHz. I probably don't sing properly, because I sound nasally sound sometimes. That 1kHz cut helps take that out some. That EQ plugin is on the vocal bus, described above, as well as the individual vocal tracks. However, the vocal tracks with effects are EQd differently.

If you're really interested in the chains and want to know more in detail, PM me. Can email ya
