I have a new strat with one that I love, but I may well block it before long.
It just takes so much longer to change a whole set of strings (which I like to do regularly).
I don't mind it, but one way to speed up the string changeout is to replace one string at a time, leaving the old ones in place until you get to them. If you tune and stretch each string as you go, the block will more or less stay in the sweet spot throughout the process.
) I've gotta have a 25.5 scale cause I'm a pretty large guy, I've got really big hands and I need all the space I can get. I've gotta have two humbuckers and the Seymour Duncans in my soloist are perfect. I've gotta have a Floyd Rose bridge cause I would have so much less fun without one. I also like the tuning stability of a double locking bridge. Also, I've gotta have a neck-thru guitar. I won't even get into the arguments about tone and sustain, I'll just say that I can't live with a big uncomfortable neck joint. One thing that I've changed about my guitar is the addition of stainless steel frets. I absolutely love the feel of those frets, I'll never be happy with anything else. Okay, I guess that's about everything that makes me prefer my guitar to any other.
The best bang for the buck and most played guitar these days has been my Peavy Wolfgang. These things can still be had for a decent price.
