Why we like certain guitars and not others

Floating bridges are my number one hate.
I have a new strat with one that I love, but I may well block it before long.
It just takes so much longer to change a whole set of strings (which I like to do regularly).

I don't mind it, but one way to speed up the string changeout is to replace one string at a time, leaving the old ones in place until you get to them. If you tune and stretch each string as you go, the block will more or less stay in the sweet spot throughout the process.

My ideal guitar is my Jackson Soloist.
I've gotta have an ebony fretboard. I've gotta have neck binding. I've gotta have a somewhat slim but not too slim of a neck (no Ibanez jem/wizard/whatever necks that are around 5/16" thick :p ) I've gotta have a 25.5 scale cause I'm a pretty large guy, I've got really big hands and I need all the space I can get. I've gotta have two humbuckers and the Seymour Duncans in my soloist are perfect. I've gotta have a Floyd Rose bridge cause I would have so much less fun without one. I also like the tuning stability of a double locking bridge. Also, I've gotta have a neck-thru guitar. I won't even get into the arguments about tone and sustain, I'll just say that I can't live with a big uncomfortable neck joint. One thing that I've changed about my guitar is the addition of stainless steel frets. I absolutely love the feel of those frets, I'll never be happy with anything else. Okay, I guess that's about everything that makes me prefer my guitar to any other.

A volume knob positioned well enough that I can get my little finger onto it to do volume swells, and a pot underneath it that is evenly graded so the swells sound good...

Ibanez

I have 6 Ibanez guitars and they are all different. 3 RG's, 1 Talman, 1 Arstar and my newly purchased SZ320. I also have a bastard guitar. It is part Series 10, Fender, Ibanez, and whatever else I through in there. It has mighty Might pickups that are very Fender esque. I think that I roll with Ibanez because they are so durable and road worthy. They will not cost you a small fortune and you still get good quality.

i lucked out with my acoustic. I have a D-15 Martin, mahogany body. I love this guitar.

My electric I'm not as attached to. Its a godin LGX-SA. don't get me wrong I do like the guitar very much. But it hasn't left me fully satisfied. I think its more because of the pickups than anything. its a great rock guitar, but sometimes I crave a strat/tele clean sound. I think once I get a tele my collection will round out more and I'll probably end up falling in love with the godin again.

I love my Satriani Ibanez when I'm standing, I hate it when I'm sitting...it's kinda slippery and won't stay put. The best bang for the buck and most played guitar these days has been my Peavy Wolfgang. These things can still be had for a decent price.

I think that the recent Godins with the 25.5 scale with 22 frets can get closer to that Strat to Tele thing than the LGX-SA....
