Why (the heck) do we want perfect mixes?

As for getting a mix as good as a professional, I have to admit, I have tried, and I can't do it, so, for the time being anyway, I'm giving up.

I can imagine a lot of the professionals listening to your mixes and giving up.

I agree with Chrisharris. I just want to play something at a decent volume without it hurting my ears, which I have only done once (barely). But hey, it gives you a goal, something to strive for, and therefore works like a meditation. It focuses the mind and washes away all other thoughts. Now breathe with me now, in... out... in...
