This is absolutely right. The P4 has much more power per GHz for digital audio than a PIII or AMD if the software is optimized. Without optimization it gives similar power per GHz as the PIII.ColdAsh said:I think it also depends on what software you're going to be using. P4 software optimization can be as simple as recompiling, and it shouldn't take very long for companies to do this. But even more performance can be squeezed out buy updating the code with P4 enhanced design rules.
Intel has been aggressively slashing prices on the P4 in order to entice buyers in this very slow market. If you have the money to buy, definitely take advantage of it. The P4 is a much better choice in the long run.
