Since Digidesign's Mbox and Digi002 are among the top selling interfaces at musiciansfriend.com I would think there are many home recording hobbyists that would really benefit from such a forum. I know I would!

So what's the deal???

I have wondered the same thing. Especially looking above at all the other competing software discussions available. I am stuck going to the more combersome and less personal digidesign user conference.

I think it is deep rooted anti-PToolism.

lol, we sure have a had a ton of Pro Tools questions lately...I guess it's that time of month ;)

basically, IMO, when this forum was created PT wasn't huge on the home market. It was geared towards the professional market....I think homerecording.com got its start around 1997?
That being said, there are still a couple forums out there that you could check out.
duc.digidesign.com has a great wealth of information
also.....

Dragon doesn't come around here much, so I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. Certainly the Digi002 and M-Powered hardware has got a lot more homerec'ers running PT than in the past. I'll admit I've bothered Benny with a few of my PT newb questions. Yo Benny- How do I delete a plugin from a track? I know how to bypass it, but how do I just make it go away?-Richie

Pt

I have wondered that too. I am open to other stuff, but i like Pro Tools because it works for me. I do wish you could other hard ware interfaces except their stuff. I thinking about a 002 Rack but was also looking at the Presonus Firepod. Basically has what i need and so much cheaper than the 002.

Hey Rickson, nice screen name. You do Brazillian Juijitsu? Been at it a few years myself.

I do notice benny doing a great job of answering PT questions.

Speaking of questions...is there a way to "copy" a plugin with its settings to another track?

Anton, ive been training BJJ for 12 years and teaching for 6. Youre the first person that recognized Rickson's name on HR.com:)

click on the insert and select "no insert"....it should be the first option

Hold Alt (option on Mac I believe) and click and drag the plugin to another track...that's the quickest way. Although the plugins have to have the same outputs. For example, you can't put a mono plugin on a stereo track.

or you can pull down the little tab by the presets (in the plugin window) and choose copy....then paste it to the new plugin.

the truth is i think dragon doesnt like us Pro Tools people... nobody around here seems to like PT or the users much...

I don't have anything significant to add except that I second the notion for a PT forum. It's what I use the majority of the time and I love it. RTAS to the people!

I don't know about "nobody." I think there are several protools bashers that will go off on their tired little rants anytime protools is mentioned, whether it has anything to do with the question or not. Then you get the newbies that just rehash everything they hear or make a negative judgement on PT without knowing all the facts. I don't mind when people bitch about the limitations of PT, I've done my share. It pisses me off when people relay incorrect information over and over again, or outright lie when bashing PT. There's plenty there to work with folks, Digi has done some, IMO, very shitty underhanded things, no need to make stuff up.

Anyway, every few months or so we try to petition for a PT forum, but when's the last time ANY new forum has been added? I usually just refer people to BrettB's www.protoolsforum.com/board when they have PT questions.
