Im playing a song in vegas (multi track software) and on the meter it peaks at 0.4, this is routed to my mixer then to my monitors however on my mixer it is goes up to +2 - +4? i never use my meter on my mixer but i just want to know why its differnt to the one i use in vegas.
thanks

Simply put, they are measuring two different things. The analog mixer is measuring dBVU, the Vegas meter is measuring dBFS. It's like having two thermometers, one that measures °F and the other that measures °C.

Do a search on "meters" and/or "gain staging" to find a holwe bunch of forum info that goes into this in more detail. This topic comes up a few times a month.
