Farce of Nature
Re: In Defense of myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fine. I'll take your word for it instead of sifting through the post. Whoever made that statement needs to spend some time listening to actual metal, and maybe reading a Martin Popoff review or three (yeah.. I know music critics suck. But this guy knows more metal than probably anyone and puts things in great context, regardless if you agree with him or not)
AS for Metallica haveing sloppy slow drums, maybe slow but not sloppy.
Yeah I used the wrong term. In my opinion, he can't play slow in a contextual way. His drums are too loud. He uses the SAME drums for different pieces. There's no change-up to improve the music, and it gives the impression that he's just a dumb ape who only knows one style of playing, always making sure you know it's him by hitting the cymbal on the 2. And to me, when I hear him attempt to play in the groove, he can't lock it down.. He's probably got the tempo right, but it just doesn't groove right. Which I don't understand, because when Metallica would jump from high velocity to lock step groove (ala Whiplash, and Helpless--"Cannot squeeze the life of me") he nails it. Anyway, because his style isn't very flexible, then it gives the impression that the song is "sloppy", even though he's probably keeping the time ok..
Of course, half the members on this board probably disagree with everything I just said. To each his own.
