Why are the tempo ratio buttons disabled?

Hello,

I got a project that does not use any audio clips, but the tempo ratio buttons on the tempo toolbar are disabled. The documentation only states that "the tempo ratio buttons do not function in projects containing audio clips".

Does anyone have an idea what the reason for the buttons being disabled in my project is?

Well, it looks like I found an answer - though not a really satisfactory one: As soon as I insert an audio track into my project, the tempo ratio buttons get disabled. However, when I immediatelly delete the audio track again, they stay disabled... :(

You're right, i've seen it in the documentation : the ratio buttons are only available for 'pure' midi songs.

This make sens, if you play midi twice faster, the audio tracks would fall off beats or they would have to be shiffted one octave up... wich can produce very bad results ( especially for voices ).

I think the 'ratio' purpose is only to import .mid files. Depending of the software used to generate them, the tempo may have to be adust to half or double.

This is easy to fix. Go to Options (menu) then Project. On the Clock tab under Source are four choices. You want Internal.

When you add an audio track, Sonar switches the clock source to Audio. But when you delete the audio track it doesn't put it back. (Which is not unreasonable because for all Sonar knows you're going to add another audio track next.)

Cool - Ethan's method works! Thanks a lot ( you really seem to have spend some time working with Sonar ;) )
