Why an sm-7 ?

Hey Carioid, I read someone on rec.audio.pro said that Red Hot Chili Peppers' BloodSugarSexMagic vocals were tracked with an SM7. They were complimenting the mic saying, hey, it even made Anthony sound good! Geez, now I need one!

I saw a picture inside one of Sheryl Crowe's CD sleeves of her in the studio belting it out in to an SM7. I believe it's her second CD. The Chili Peppers? Sure sounds like a condenser to me, but what the hell do I know?
