Well? Seems like every budding guitarist is issued one of these. Reliable as anything for the money.

I know thats supposedly what strats are good for, but damn, my pups go overboard. I like the bridge and trem way better on the squire though. I can divebomb that thing and it stays in tune. On the mexican, if I even look at the trem, it goes out of tune. I like to play surfy sounding stuff sometimes, so the squire is good for that. It stays on the stand for pretty much everything else though. For punk or rock stuff, I use my mexistrat or my SG.
I have a squire p-bass too, and I have no complaints with it. Put some good strings on it, and its no different than a real p-bass.
Well I wired my mexican strat to have bridge tone control and a toggle-switch to turn the bridge p/u on in all positions, so I can wire my squier the same way and get bridge tone control on that one too. Thanks for the tip.Anfontan said:If bright pickups are your only problem, you might just change the capacitor in the tone circuit-.05 microFarad is a standard in a Strat I think. You might try a .02 microFarad or a .01 microFarad to darken the tone and get some bass in there. Hmmm....I just realized the bridge pickup has no tone control-that will work on the neck and middle pickup though. Heres a schematic to show where the capacitor is located.

a friend of mine has had a fernandes P-bass for about 15 years now. he wont get rid of it. he also has a jazz and a thunderbird, and he swears by the fernandes as his main bass. i guess theyre pretty good.Anfontan said:I've never owned a Squire, but I have a Fernandez Strat copy that is the best playing and recording guitar I own, and that includes a Gibson les Paul, Epi Sheraton 2, and a Fender Strat. I pretty sure the Fernandez was made in Japan, has a basswood body and its louder than the Paul, really odd for a bolt on I think.
From the moment I saw it on the rack in the store I wanted it, as soon as I played it I had to take it home!
