Billy Ray did it I agree, why is it that country music is always so over produced and polished sounding....it doen'st sound real half the time. And it' so stuctured and radio friendly, the video's are so acted out...yuk!
Maybe it's true, of The Buggles' song "Video Killed The Radio Star" (which was the first video aired on MTV), that video did it...in rock, pop, country. Also remember that so long as rockabilly and southern rock exists, the lines between what's known as Country & Western, and Rock & Roll will always be blured to some extent.

Exactly! I keep saying that, but folks look at you, like you are crazy. It's SO obvious to me....
....maybe they are 'blinded, like a deer in headlights' or something...

producers like Mutt and Dan Huff have brought it to the 80's......

and this isnt a new concept.....country music in the 60's sounded like rock from the 50's....i think its always gonna be like that......genres evolve.......rock doesnt sound like zepplin anymore.......

Mutt definitely did it for his wife...but can't blame him for that..

Well, that's NOT necessarily a 'bad thing'!? :D

im not blaming anyone.....i like where country music is......like rock, theres alot of styles flourishing, from old school to new school.......

and no, rock not sounding like zepplin isnt a bad thing.....genres moving ahead is a positive and natural thing.......

I would doubt it.....

how many times have we seen Hank Williams Jr. dance around with a Les Paul and you can tell he's not plugged in because half the time hes not fingering the right chords......
But Hank Jr CAN play the right chords and lead guitar too....as we have also seen many times.

Yeah, what Gidge is seeing is probably due to sloppy video editing. Editors who underestimate the sharpness of their audience will sometimes use filler footage that was shot of the band playing a different song. Sometimes they can get away with it if you can't see a melodic player's hands and the beat is about right.

Of course, sometimes the band is lipsynching for the video and the players miss chords... ;^)
