Who would I want to take my headphones to fix this? The end connector has a short in it.

Do it yourself...simple soldering is a skill anyone can develop. Go to radio shack, ask for a small soldering iron, flux core solder and a replacment connector.

nah, forget the replacement connector....but you may want a DMM (digital multi meter)
It doesn't need replacing, just resoldering. A short has to do with two leads touching one another when they shouldn't....two connections of different voltages.
The DMM will make sure no two different connections are touching eachother.

What if it's one of those original molded plastic types (not serviceable)? I guess that's a good question for jbroad756.

buy a 1/4 or 1/8inch jack depending on which one you need, cut off the old on and resauder it on
