While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Acoustic Cover)

I think it's the most unusual cover I've ever heard. I like it. Took me a few seconds to adjust but then it was all good. In the day this might have been coined beatnik music. It has a kind of film noir attitude to it, pre punk rat pack.

Yep, that's definitely a stylized cover. But it really works. I like. Nice recording too. I think the guitar could come up behind the voice a bit without taking away from the voice. (I know this was done in 2008 and probably not open for revision, but I thought I'd toss in my 2 cents for the heck of it).

@ Whitestrat - Thanks for the suggestions, although has you said I've lost the multitrack session and can't really make changes! However I share your view, that the guitar should back off just a bit.

@ Manslick - I really like it too. This friend of mine is a big Beatles fan.

no the guitar should come up not back off :)

...sweet playing and vocals...got a real lounge feel about it, great version (if I knew the original lol)

Certainly interesting, and in spite of the fact that he hasn't made any attempt to follow the chords, I have to applaud it! I't is a little too removed from the original for me to love it but I would love to hear a version by your mate that somewhat follows the chords.

It sounds to me that the acoustic was fully or partially recorded through a pick-up and that spoils the sound for me. It would be much better miked.

Good to hear a really original cover.

@ kcearl - Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

@ beatlebum - You really nailed it! The guitar was recorded through DI and with a bit of bleed from the vocal mic. If I would record it today, I'd definitely choose to mic the guitar.

@ PDP - I can see your point...but the original is so good, that he tried something out of the box! Thanks

I'm glad it's removed from the original - Beatles songs are so ubiquitous that what the hell's the point in a faithful cover?

Nice tone to the guitar and vocal, though I agree that when the layered vocals come in the guitar line would have sounded better with the resonance from miking rather than the pickup.

Is this really considered a cover? Basically just taking the lyrics and changing all the chords (except for same places where notes are the same).

I think it sounds jazzy. I could hear this in a cafe being played in a hotel lobby or cafe or something. A lounge.

I was writing this while listening to the song. I don't really like the ending bit. It sounds like theres a second voice that comes in? Doesn't seem necessary.

I just listened to it again, and after much thought, I think it needs more cowbell?

Has that joke been used on these forums before? I'm new...

This is very well done and it sounds great. Subjectively, I don't really care for the lounge-like feel. I love the orignal, but I totally dig the fact that he went off on a tangent with this one, even if it isn't necesarily my cup 'o joe.

Not too bad, a little too laid back for my liking..it was putting me to sleep.
