MMMOOOTTTIIIIFFF, cause we look so good together......

If you're getting a mpc 4k then why buy the triton or the motif,
they have samplers already. I'd go for the triton le if you have to have a triton(triton without sampler), or the fantom.

the triton le is a peace of sh!t(to me)
i'm gonna get a triton studio. the reason i'm also getting a mpc is drums etc... its so much better

Triton,... i played one last night at Guitar Center while looking for a new guitar and amp and that was the best keyboard i ever played, i dont know what model it was, but i played the Motif, and the Karma,... and all the others and the best one was the Triton. thats just what ithink though

bye

I wish that I could answer this question

Because if I could answer this question it would mean that I have a budget for one of these keyboards.;)

I don't have the liquid assets for one, so I haven't shopped any of these high ticket items. However, I will part with my methods of audtioning potential keyboard purchases.

Hopefully all the keyboards are being sold in the same location. This makes "A" "B" comparasons easy.

First I check out the primary pallet of colors (Piano, EPiano, Pipe Organ, Jazz Organ, Strings, Brass).

I check them side by side and play the same peice, scale or random notes on each keyboard to get a real taste from each machine.

I mentally score each keyboard (10 points from the Romanian judge).

Next, I try to accomplish some simple editing on each board. (If I can infer it from the "freindly" interface).

If I can't figure it out on the fly, I factor that into my decision. For me such things should be intuitive.

Again, I give a rating.

Now I listen to all the wild sounds. (Synth leads, exotic instruments) Again I mentally rate.

The rest can be done online. Check for expandability, Onboard RAM, voice and bank capacity. Essentially, all the features and specs that aren't subjective. Cold hard keyboard facts.

I tally it all out (including price consideration) and make my decision from there.

It is important that I stress the mental ranking system. Without it the whole decision based on subjective material (i.e., really "boss" piano sound), starts to become somewhat nebulous.

Bring a small note pad to record each keyboard's scores.

That's how I decide a big keyboard purchase.

;)

i have a triton over here now, i'm gonna get the new triton studio. then later on when i have more money i'll add another board like the fantom or something on those lines. the triton has some nice sounds and its so easy to use, the triton studiohas a few more sounds in it.
Mastermindzz, you still getting the motif...

Yea, so what ever you do don't get it, it won't make any sense, cause we can put equipment together. Have you heard anything on the MPC ???

heard anything on the mpc4000... my man is gonna try and get one. i'm just gonna get the mpc2000xl for now. i'ma try and get it by june, i can't drop 3799 for the mpc4000 i just don't have it. me and my pops are spliting the triton

Check the KARMA

I know the KARMA is not very popular on this site but I think that is becuase it is not very well understood. Check out Herbie Hancock's new record, there is alot of KARMA on it. The thing is, if you are into RAP, HIP-HOP, or any thing that is heavily drum loop or repetative drum rhythm oriented, the KARMA fuctions are absolutely the best thing going. You would not even need the MPC 2000XL, however, I have the KARMA and the MPC 2000XL and it coveres everything. Also, the KARMA has the same sound generation as the Triton and there are expansion boards that fit both. You would get most if not all of the Triton sounds. The only thing missing is the sampling and the MPC will not cover that for the keyboard. You can sample drum and percussion sounds but you cannot sample a keyboard and play it through on you keyboard. Ultimately, you may want a seperate sampler but you can sample grooves on the MPC so until you run out of keyboard sounds, you would be set. You have probably made up your mind already and it seems you are going for the most impressive gear with the biggest wow factor or the most "professional" credentials. I am not knocking this approach since if you look at any add for a studio it will list all of thier gear. People do hire you becuase of your gear since they think the gear is responsible for the sound. To a degree it is, however, you are responsible for the music and that is where the line between the machines begins to blur more and more. Anyway, good luck with whatever you choose or have chosen.

I don't like the karma much. its just not me, i'ma get a triton. my man mastermindzz is gonna bring a motif to the squad :D so we'll be set. as for drum loops... i don't need um, i make all my own stuff no loops or samples. i made some hot drum kits and stuff with the triton but i prefer having a mpc. i do more and do it easy. good lookin out though.

Not bad choice IMO

I have been using an MPC myself even though I have the KARMA, the KARMA is still a great instrument, just difficult in some respects. But ultimately, I see your point to a degree since when I do lay down tracks, I almos always use the MPC. I also got this Waldorf Attack program that has the 909 and 808 sounds on it plus a numer of other percussions instruments that are pretty cool. So, Triton and MPC, can't go wrong. KARMA and MPC, can't go wrong. Just personal preference I guess. BTW, I cannot figure why anyone who likes a Triton would not like a KARMA since they have the same sound enginges but, hey, whateveer floats your boat is fine just as long as in the end, you are making a joful noise.

i'm just saying features wise and and i'm use to the triton, just touching the screen i get things done fast. play a nice seq for 4-32 measures and loop it. i'ma also gonna get a roland fantom once more money comes in

Why a Roland Fantom

What a Fantom, what do you like about that one???

i liked some of the sounds in it when i was playing it at mars.the first day i played one it just clicked with my fingers and its easy to work with. i'ma have all 3 by next summer...

I've heard all three and I only liked the motif.

The triton is good, but I would pick an emu sound module over it.

the fantom sounds like any xp -jv unit, so if you want those extra cheesy sounds, save money and buy a used jv-1080

I Picked Korg

I haven't heard any of these, but what the heck eh?.... The M1 was awesome at the time, so why shouldn't the Triton be..:D.......

triton baby

let's face it KORG does it all, I made the mistake of looking elsewhere like alesis, motif, technics but now I know and I'm sticking with the korg, I own the karma, trition studio, and the n364, I like the fantom but nah go with the korg
