I don't see Ableton Live 4 in the survey. I just finished a six song Project CD all done with Live 4. It's extremely flexible and easy to use.

I use Cubase VST/32 5.0 for recording and arranging.

I have a Mac G3 and got Cubase for ~$150 when Mars went out of business. I use Reason for drum, synth, and bass and export .wav files for import into Cubase.

Thats probably because the poll was posted before it existed!

I use freeware

Audacity is free
i run my old portastudio direct so i get the preamps
i use a V-amp for guitars

i export to mp3,
cheap!

Protools for its hardware interfaces very powerful program good customer support if you got the bucks TDM systems are great but hey standard windows recorder was my first program with a tape on the line out heh heh!

Digital Performer, for sure. I'm loving 4.5. The crash-on-quit and a couple of other bugs that seem to have been fixed in 4.5.1 notwithstanding, it's solid as a rock and performs fairly well on my dual 2 GHz G5.

I used Audacity as well for editing. I also use Finale, Ableton, Acid, FruityLoops, and Csound. Most of my recording/mixing is done on a digital recorder.

This is why polls should have an end date! It was started in 2001. STOP VOTING! :D

My software isn't even ON that list. ;)

Sonar 3 producer edition is where its at! Its got its own effects and its super easy to use...well at least for me.

I use Sound Forge for sampling/recording and Fruity Loops for beat production. When I need to multitrack I use Acid.

I've just started using Samplitude and its awesome. I sound some much better then Cakewalk and the others.

And this is a PIII 700, 256 megs RAM, 7200 RPM 40 gig and 7200 RPM 15 gig HDs. Not a lightweight machine and it should handle anythng you throw at it.

Hey bdb, I think the weak link here is your RAM. This would be especially true if you are running Windows 2000 or XP which run best with lots of RAM. Try upgrading to 512MB or a 1GB if you can and I bet you will find that most of your problems go away.

I use Sonar 4 its the equivelant of pro tools, but its for pc..Fruity loops for drums, then i use drumagog to clean that up,ive heard of soundforge..I actualy have 7..just downloaded it today ,youreally dont need it with sonar..Anyways that i s what a very reliable source says,,. Sonar is whatever you need in a recording program

I have Sony Vegas 5.0... A friend who knows I am into recording gave it to me for my birthday. I found out later that he paid almost $600 for it....
