There's this newfangled program called Tracktion that ah find to be purty
nice...

It runs all these things called 'plugins' too! Some of them make a very nice lil' ol' racket! If you stroke 'em jess raht, that is.

Using HS2004..... on my way to upgrading to Sonar........ I find it to be easy to use and i can do anything i've needed to do... and yes i have tried 2 maybe 3 other programs.

I use Samplitude 7.22 because it's very stable, uses less resources than others I've tried, and I can do audio recording, mixing, mastering & burning to CD all in the same program.Good company support as well...

The 8.0 version of Samplitude is due to have a major Midi update and improved surround sound. There are many Pro Tools users switching to Samplitude.

I use Cool Edit 2000 basicly the same I love it easy to use nicely laided out. I mostly use it to copy vinyl records and turn them into mp3s.

multitracking- in simplest form

N-Track as multitracker...Goldwave for editing.....Fruity Loops for drums.....

Because they are cheap and the best bang for the buck software for their fucnctions....

And because I have so little bucks, I need more bangs for them.....

Multi-track...is this a free software I could try with a M-Audio/MobilePre USB?
I was trying-out this pc recording setup....comparing to my tried and true MD8 (which hasn't had an error or crash ..in 7+years).

i like the concept of all-in one, record,add effects/mix- normalize, and burn-CD-R...

All i want software to do is 2 pages. One for recording and one for mixdown.

Any inputs???

It's free to try the demo, but $75 for the 24bit version. Check it out.
For something completely free, you could look at Kristal Audio Engine, but it's not as feature packed.

cool cat. ive tried every solution on this smoggy planet.
best were powertracks and magix music studio , both i bought and use.
but powertracks is really still my first love because this is a very HONEST
company with its upgrade policies that i admire. normally 19 bucks to upgrade. so before you buy anything from the highest of high end sequencers downwards give powertracks a spin. free to try from pgmusic.com. 29 bucks. you find me better value . i DARE YOU.
i also have tons of respect (as i'm a puter engr) for ntrack, traktion,
and i have TONS AND TONS of respect for multitrackstudio.com.
a brilliant effort imho by brilliant programmers imho.

i'm on a mission now.

now thats what i'm talkin bout....

thanks!

there's a lot of products here. I wonder if users can just post a quick link and price. A good start for research. I figure start w/ free, then cheap, then demos of higher priced stuff. seems like a lot of work. Some companies have more than one product.

Like Steinberg has 3. Nuendo, Cubase, Nuendo DTS encoder. www.steinberg.net
kind of expensive, Cubase sx3 $800, nuendo 2.0 $1,500

N-Track is www.ntrack.com and standard version is $49 and 24-bit is $79

Hardware compatiblity is a whole other thing, maybe for another thread....

I am using mainly SONAR 4 at the moment ( I've been using Cakewalk products for 6 years now) and I have Pro Tools LE 6.4 with Digi 002 for a month now as well. I will be using it for mixes and editing eventually. I am still a novice in PT :)

www.pronoise.com

M-Box with Pro Tools LE 6.4 on a 2.5 g P4 PC. Once I learned how to really use it (I took private lessons with a pro) it's awesome. All the tracking and editing is done with PT and mastering is done with Soundforge 6.0.

jeeeze, you guys gotta learn to start new threads after a while heh. this things from 2001. Sonar 1? Cubase VST/32?

On my PowerBook G4 laptop, which I use for voice-over recording or making sessions before going to the PowerMac G4s at the studio, I use ProTools LE 6.4. At the studio it's ProTools 6.4 on a TDM system. Why? Because it's the best. We don't run just a music studio, or some crap studio, we do a TON of high-end work. www.keithhartermusic.com Pretty much every TV and radio commercial you see/hear in TEXAS was done at our studio. We've done work for feature films, won tons of Grammy's, list goes on. We've worked with huge artists (George Strait, No Doubt, Bjork, Sigur Ross, Beck, Tim McGraw, list goes on.) Specials for the History Channel and the Discovery Channel, HBO and ShowTime, on and on. One thing I can tell you, any professional studio worth a damn, uses ProTools.

At home, I have always used n-Track and Vegas. Just upgraded to Vegas 5, and love it. Now I need to get the equipment to track multiple things at once. Why? Because ProTools blows on PC, simple. And because Vegas is a GREAT all around program, just like ProTools. For major wav editing I use SoundForge 7. If ProTools worked as well on a PC as it does on Macs, I would have already spent the money and had a top-notch TDM system running at home too. Oh well. Latah.

Not seeing Digital Performer 4.5, did somebody forget about MOTU? Excellent product, used with a PowerMac G5. For some reason this sequencer software doesn't seem to get hardly any recognition on this forum. Am I the only one out there sequencing MIDI?

Cubase SX2 is quite good as it has similar properties to wavelab in that you can zoom right in on the wave by draging the mouse at the time bar along the top of the wave. Brilliant.
But protools is the best i would say. Its editing and automation and plug ins beat anything else.

would like to know which is more used and the reason.

Thanks

I like it because I'm used to it. I personally think it makes sense. Actually, the old version of CEP has more features than I'll ever use. I already own it. No further cash investment needed. It's simple. That's about it ;)
