just checking :)

You are wise to turn it off when using Sonar.

I had ME. Now I have XP. Tremendous difference. I believe that the driver issues are being worked out, and most hardware has drivers. I hope it will work for you, as it is the best I have used. ME used to crash on me at least twice a day, and after about three monthe, XP has not given me one problem.

XP is the most stable windows platform ever.

However...

If the drivers for your specific hardware does not exist, or is in the beta phase, upgrading to XP may (or may not) be a real frustrating experience.

My PA9/Sonar PC is:

HP Pavilian 7965 1.7Ghz
768Mb Ram / 80mb drive
Internal Audio disabled
SB Live Digital
(1) Emagic Unitor Midi Interface
(3) Emagic AMT8 Midi Interface

The above works EXCELLENT with XP without any noticable instability issues that I can tell. Rock solid with Cakewalk PA9, Sonar XL, Cubase (though i don't use this much), Cool Audio Pro, as well as Adobe premiere using the built in firewire ports.

Driver availability is the key.
