which of these two mixes sound better?

I just recorded a rock ballad backing track, I wanted some feedback on two different mixes, right now all I want to know is, of the two mixes which sounds better and why?

I'd say #2 would win if the instruments were more connected eq-wise. #1 is a little dark to me but the instruments are well balanced eq-wise again.

Okay, mixwise... the second's better. But you said it's a backing track. So what's the vocal and what's going to happen to the mix when you lob it in? All bets are off. Your question's premature. Which is also probably why the intro's too long.
